I’m Hamlet Batista. 32 years old, Christian, married, father of two, and I bootstrapped my company Nemedia S.A. in 2002, primarily via affiliate marketing, PPC and SEO.

I have taken some heavy hits from my mistakes and won big with my successes and I thought it was just about time to start sharing. I want to help other young entrepreneurs build their dreams, without having to go to angel investors or make huge financial sacrifices.

I was born and live in a beautiful tropical island in the third world, specifically the Dominican Republic.

I completed a college degree in Telecommunications Engineering in 1996 and moved from working as a Windows C++ Developer at a software outsourcing firm, to a Unix/Linux System Administrator at a major international Telco, and finally to IT Director managing a small team of highly talented individuals at an online marketing firm.

After saving enough money to cover my business and personal expenses for 6 months, I resigned from my job, and set out to start my own business. With no prior business experience and having no formal business training, these factors proved to be big challenges I had to overcome.

God would have it, that I was fortunate enough to stumble into one of the top marketers that worked for my previous employer. He wouldn’t tell me much as he didn’t want to feed additional competition, but what he said was enough for me to start my own journey. He mentioned pay per click, Viagra, and the almighty dollar.

I was very familiar with the concept of affiliate marketing as I had to create an affiliate tracking software using Java for my former employer. However I was not familiar with it from the business perspective. I was very fortunate to have read Ken Envoy’s Affiliate Master Course. The book gave me a jump on the information I needed to get started.

My plan was to first cover my cost of living and save as much as possible to grow my business: I always wanted to start a software company.

Now I have a 20+ person search engine marketing firm and a couple of other businesses with other partners. We only optimize for our own sites and associated businesses, but we are working to take outside customers as well. My primary goal is to launch a unique and ground-breaking search engine optimization software in the next month or two that we have been developing for some time.

One of my regrets is that I was never one for networking with my peers which has resulted in a lack of strong relationships throughout the industry. This blog is my late effort to amend that mistake.

I think there is a lot I can share from my experiences and that is my plan here.

Love it — I appreciate the unabashed profession of faith (and a life of faith too, huh? :)). I’m looking forward to what comes next.

Thanks for your kind words, Wing. I think we all need to stand for what we believe.

    Hi Hamelet,

I actually read your about page to see where you were from, I dont know why but I knew you were not from a western country…. its is strange that I knew that … maybe it is the fact you have your office on a beach 😉

    I loved the line:

“He mentioned pay per click, Viagra, and the almighty dollar”

Its interesting to read a blog written by someone with real experience and knowledge on these matters….

    Jez,

    Thanks for your comment 🙂

Please note that we are right next to Puerto Rico — a two hour flight from Miami, FL. I guess that makes us western.

    Hi Hamlet,

Sorry, the term “western” always confuses me a bit, I could not think of anything more appropriate…. shall we say I guessed you were from somewhere special 😉
